mocha medley #4
mocha medley #4
Approx 100g/3.5 oz batt
hand processed wool blended with a selection of hand-dyed, undyed and recycled natural fibers
the blend:
70% romney wool from Mocha
20% hand dyed BFL top (Little Fiber Co)
10% hand washed and hand dyed mohair (by Porter Wool Co)
*A small amount of lanolin, vegetable matter and texture may be present in this batt. I did my best to remove as much lanolin as possible, but Mocha was one greasy gal. The vegetable matter should fall out while spinning or be easily picked out.
The light lanolin content did not make spinning more difficult for me during my test spins of Mocha’s fleece. After a longer spinning session, I found that my fingertips were slightly tacky, but not greasy. Any residual lanolin will wash out when wet finishing your yarn in a warm bath.
When picking apart the blue mohair, some dye transferred onto my fingertips. You may experience some dye transfer while spinning. I recommend using a color catcher when wet finishing the yarn or the finished piece if you are concerned about color bleeding.
fiber sources:
Pitchfork Ranch, Porter Wool Co and Little Fiber Co
care instructions for spun & knitted fiber:
hand wash and dry flat
cat disclaimer:
These batts are hand carded in a home with two cats. The cats are not allowed near the fiber, but there is a non-zero chance that there is cat fur present in the batts. If you are allergic to cats, please exercise caution.
