About the Pattern

The Trifle Cowl begins with a provisional cast-on and is knit in the round before doing a half twist and kitchenering the whole thing together. The kitchener takes place in the Andalusian stitch section for a totally seamless finish! The cowl features three textures/patterns: Andalusian stitch (Section 1), two-color brioche (Section 2) and pine-cone lace (Section 3).

Yarn support was kindly provided by La Bien Aimée. Thank you so much to the LBA team for empowering me to publish my first design.

Size

9.25” width by 29.5” circumference (Size is easily adjustable!)

Yarn

Yarn A: 100g lace to light-fingering weight yarn (710yds/610m//100g), held double OR 100g sport weight yarn (355yds/305m/100g), held single

Yarn B: 50g lace weight suri alpaca silk yarn 328yds/300m/50g)

Testers successfully used fingering/sock weight yarn as well for both Yarn A and Yarn B

Suggested Yarn

Yarn A: La Bien Aimée Helix OR Felix, held double

75% Falkland Merino, 25% Gotland Wool, 710yds (650m) per 100g

Sample used <1 skein (33g/217yds/198m) of the colorway Mist.

If holding a yarn single, you will need approximately half the yardage/meterage than if you were to hold a lighter yarn held double. For example, if subbing in sport weight yarn for Yarn A, you will need approximately 270yds/248m of yarn.
